IN PROCESS and CONVERSATIONS ACROSS TIME, Two exhibitions in The Vaults, Stroud, October 2025 & June 2026

In 2019, I travelled to Staffordshire Record Office for the first time to unpack the contents of three brown paper packages relating to my great-great-aunt, Joan Margaret Legge. In a combination of different media and visual storytelling, both exhibitions present the life of this intrepid traveller and amateur botanist, whose tragic death in the Himalayas in 1939 continues to reverberate more than eighty years later.

The Vaults at Lower Cemetery Lodge in Stroud invited visitors to engage with a multidisciplinary body of work that pieced together one of the many stories of remarkable women overlooked or forgotten by history. The exhibitions were intimate and quiet; the works themselves fragile, interactive and ongoing.
